DMCA & Copyright Policy
Our position on copyright
We take intellectual property seriously. This page explains how to report content that infringes your copyright and exactly what happens after you do. We aim to acknowledge every valid notice within two working days and to resolve most within five.
We publish links and metadata supplied by our community. Because we do not host third-party files, the fastest fix is usually with the site that actually hosts the material — but we will still act on a valid notice about what appears here.
What counts as infringement
Copyright protects original expression: text, images, video, audio, software and design. It does not protect facts, ideas, titles, short phrases, or a bare link to a page that someone else hosts. A URL on its own is not the infringing material — the material at the destination is.
How to submit a notice
Send your notice by email to dmca@socialbookmarkingadda.com with the subject line DMCA Takedown Notice. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), the notice must include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature — typing your full legal name at the end of the email is acceptable.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list is fine.
- The exact URL(s) on this site where the material appears. Please give full URLs, not just the title — a page title can match many links.
- Your contact details — name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A good-faith statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement of accuracy, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Incomplete notices are the single most common reason a claim cannot proceed. If any item is missing we will tell you exactly what to add rather than silently ignoring it.
What happens after you send it
- Acknowledgement — we confirm receipt, normally within two working days.
- Review — we check the notice against the listing and verify that it meets the requirements above.
- Action — if the claim is valid, the listing is removed or disabled immediately. In clear cases we forward the notice to the person who submitted it.
- Notification — the submitter is told the listing was removed and given the link to dispute it.
- Record keeping — notices and actions are logged so we can identify repeat infringers.
Counter-notices and disputes
If you believe content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to contact@socialbookmarkingadda.com including:
- your signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal was a mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district in which you reside (or, if you are outside the United States, any district in which we may be found), and consent that a court judgment may be entered against you.
If we receive a valid counter-notice we may restore the removed material after 10 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity.
Repeat infringers
In accordance with the DMCA, we maintain and enforce a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
Misrepresentation
Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing — or that it was removed by mistake — carries liability for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please be certain before you file.
Other complaints
Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or violates our content rules but is not a copyright matter should go to contact@socialbookmarkingadda.com instead. See the Terms of Service for the content rules and the contact page for the right address.
Important limitation
Removing a listing from this site does not delete the material from the internet. If you need the content itself taken down, you must also contact the host of that website, who is the only party able to remove it. We are glad to help you identify the host and re-send the notice there.
